Barack Obama
Barack Obama was the 44th President of the United States, holding the office from January 2009 to January 2017.
Obama belonged to the Democratic Party and his political platform was focused on a variety of issues ranging from improving public healthcare to introducing stricter gun control laws. While some of his efforts were successful, others were frustrated by opposition from Congress, which was controlled by the Republican Party for a significant portion of his presidency.
Obama's political campaign was based on the slogan "Yes We Can", which is frequently echoed in his political rhetoric. His speeches are known for being carefully planned and making use of a range of rhetorical devices, such as allusions to key events in US history or repetition of central phrases and messages.
Obama was succeeded by President Donald Trump, who belongs to the Republican Party.
