Trevor Noah and his background
Trevor Noah (b. 1984), the author of Born a Crime, is the most famous comedian in South Africa. He is also a television host and presents The Daily Show, an American late-night satirical news program.
Noah was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1984. His mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, is of Xhosa origin, while his father, Robert, is of Swiss-German ancestry. Noah grew up under the influence of apartheid, whose racial classification system labeled his mother as black, his father as white, and Noah himself as colored. Because of the forbidden interracial relationships and racial segregation laws, Noah spent his childhood away from his father and was unable to mix with black children his age.
