Delivery of the speech


Michelle Obama delivers her “Dear Class of 2020” graduation speech online, as part of the Dear Class of 2020 event streamed live on YouTube. Given the restrictions and social distancing imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, high schools and universities canceled their graduation ceremonies. In this special context, it therefore makes sense that we see Obama deliver the speech from her own home.

Obama delivers her speech sitting, dressed in white, in front of a white bookshelf with minimal decorations. Her appearance and her background are not distracting and help her engage the audience, who find it easier to focus on her words instead of her surroundings.
