Setting and narrator

In what follows, we will discuss the setting and narrator of the short story “One Friday Morning” by Langston Hughes.


Published in 1941, the short story is set in the North of the United States and was probably meant to be read as contemporary to the time of publishing. The action only spans over a few days in April and follows the protagonist, a high-school student.
