Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster

Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster also appear in the novel The Fault in Ours Stars by John Green. Hazel's parents are married and live with Hazel on the corner of 83rd Street and Spring Mill in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Hazel is their only child. Mrs. Lancaster, Hazel's mother works for an insurance company. However, she spends most of her time with Hazel. At the moment, the reason she can't work is because Hazel is her "full-time job." However, she is training to be a social worker, which is something she keeps secret from her daughter. In the future, she would like to be there for parents with terminally ill children.

Mr. Lancaster, Hazel's father, commutes between Indianapolis and Dayton. There, the company Morris Property, Inc. maintains a satellite office. Actually, Mr. Lancaster had wanted to spend his life in exotic places. He is a very emotional person. He cries a lot and is then rather helpless when dealing with Hazel's illness. The thought of the consequences of Hazel's illness makes him very sad.
